NORTH AMERICA MISSIONARIES

There are numerous opportunities for cross-cultural ministry in North American countries. In some situations a person can minister in English; sometimes learning a second language is necessary.  For example, it is estimated that there are over 200 distinct foreign languages spoken in Los Angeles.

GEORGE Shaw

We live in an age where the Biblical standing of Jewish people has been replaced by various theologies, such as: Replacement Theology, Two Covenant Theology and anti-semitism in subtle forms. As part of the Society for Distributing Hebrew Scriptures, we are dedicated to bringing the Good News of salvation everywhere to both Jewish and Gentile peoples. Since 1940, the Society has been publishing bilingual Scriptures in various languages with Hebrew around the world.

Whoever is thirsty, let him come, and whoever wishes, let him take the free gift of the water of life. Revelation 22:17

Being part of this organization, George and his late wife, Goldie, Shaw became representatives in 1996 and know that they were sovereignly joined together to reach the Jewish people. God prepared George and Goldie on two college campuses as they shared regular Bibles with all students for over five years. The Shaws volunteered a year of their lives in Israel, helping the Russian and Ethiopian immigrants coming to their homeland. “We worked with a Christian organization to give out clothing, pots and pans and food vouchers when they had nothing but the suitcases they brought.”

The home office for SDHS is in Hitchin, England, and George is only one of sixteen to serve the Jewish people worldwide from that headquarters. “Because the main office is overseas, we looked for a mission agency here in the United States to serve our needs. We found GlobalGrace Fellowship to be a sound, well organized ministry which would be perfect for our work.” Although Goldie recently went to heaven, George's goal remains the same - to return to the Jewish people the Hebrew Scriptures and to bring the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ to hundreds of U.S. and international college students of Southern California. Much prayer is needed for reaching the “Apple of His eye”.

DR. George Wood

Take a journey to the Holy Land without leaving your seat! Walk Thru the Bible uses hand signs, catch phrases, audience participation, and a huge dose of humor to teach you the chronological events of the Old and New Testaments. Within a short, one-day seminar participants come away knowing 77 major people, places and events, and understanding how the books of the Bible fit together. Dr. George Wood leads Walk Thru Seminars around the world.

George is a businessman, but he’ll tell you one of his primary reasons for working is to support “his mission’s habit”. His forte is taking short term mission trips focusing on missionary care and encouraging and enhancing GGF missionaries. In addition to biblical instruction, George often supplies thousands of dollars of medical supplies to set up medical clinics used to help the poorest of the poor in developing countries. When not on a short term mission trip, George is involved weekly in an outreach focused on the Hispanic community in Los Angeles. George is also the Chairman of GGF’s Board of Trustees.

Chester and Amy Davis

Chester & Amy Davis serve as tent-making support missionaries.  Their mission is to encourage and equip missionaries and ministries through practical means.  They work both in the USA and worldwide as God provides projects and funding.

One of their goals when getting married was to minister in closed countries. However, as they have been involved with missionaries they began to notice that many suffered setbacks in their ministry through discouragement and the lack of a helping hand. Through God's providence they have now come to see this as their primary focus.   They want people, particularly missionaries, to know they are valued and to not be hampered in sharing the grace of Jesus.

Chester holds an aircraft mechanics license and loves design, fabrication, and rebuilding of unmanned aircraft, business jets, buildings, systems and machines. He also enjoys cooking, teaching, and sound doctrine. Amy has a master’s degree in computer science and has worked for the last twelve years writing software. Both Chester and Amy have a strong bent towards solving theoretical and practical problems.

Chester and Amy both grew up in Christian homes and grew to understand and believe the simplicity and security of Jesus offer of eternal life to those who believe in Him and also the great reward for those who follow Him in discipleship.

They home-school their 5 children. Micah, Eva, Moriah, Isaiah, and Josiah are learning to become part of ministry. They can typically be found working on design projects, or playing strategy games.   Their family enjoys sharing their lives with any who seek to learn and follow God's wisdom.
