Unreached People Groups

UPG’s and UUPG’s: Today there are still many ethno-linguistic  people groups with little or no opportunity to hear the Gospel. The vast majority (95%) of these least reached groups exist in the 10/40 window and less than 10% of missionary work is done among these people.

Global Frontier Missions explains UPG's & UUPG's well.

John Piper on Missions

There are 1,568 un-engaged people groups left on earth

There are many people in the world who live their entire lives with little or no access to the Good News of Jesus.  This is because there are few or no Christians where they live, few or no churches, Bibles, media or any other way to hear about a God who loves them and Jesus who came as Savior.  Some UPG’s are unreached even though some mission organization or church groups are focusing on them and they may have Bible portions in their language, the Jesus film or other ways to hear.  But at this time they are still considered Unreached.

Who are the unreached?

UUPG’s are those groups which are totally unengaged by any mission group, church or Christians in the area.  This also means few Christians even know they exist.  Probably no one is praying for them, going to them, or cares about them.  As a result there are probably no ways for them to hear the Gospel of Jesus.
