More about the Datooga Primary School project

The Datooga people are 97% illiterate. In order to raise up pastors and evangelists from these remote villages, it is important that they have the ability to go to school. Without schools, the children shepherd livestock all day. Girls can get married off as young as eleven years old and never have an opportunity to become educated.

Starting schools has been extremely instrumental in church planting. Since the schools are church-run and learning about Jesus is part of the curriculum, many children receive Christ as Lord and Savior and then begin to share with other students as well as family members. As these schools are started among the Datooga people, it is changing a generation, and making church planting successful.

Recently one of the first Datooga students became a pastor and is now planting churches in another village. As of May 2020 eight schools have been built. The goal is to continue to add more schools as a method of Reaching the Unreached.
