Sharing With Neighbors

Today, 'Alex' came late to Arsi's story discussion group.

A couple of weeks ago, 'Jen' met Alex while telling stories in the community; he was drinking with his buddies. She asked him if she could tell him a story from God’s word. At first, he adamantly said, “No!” But Jen does not give up easily. She convinced him that he had nothing to lose in listening to her story, so he agreed.

After telling the story, Jen invited Alex to come the next day to help test our stories. (As part of the story-preparation process, we invite non-Christians to listen to stories, retell them, and answer questions about the stories.)

To our surprise, Alex came! (And he was sober.) Alex wanted to hear more about Jesus, and returned again the next week to help us test stories.

So why was Alex late coming to Arsi's story group? He had just come from telling the story he'd learned last week to a group in his neighborhood.

Stories about Jesus are a powerful and compelling way to present the gospel to people in Africa. Pray for believers in West Africa as they tell His story to people who have never heard.

W&E mentor local Christians in preparing Bible stories in the common, every-day language of their people, and train them to use the stories in story discussion groups with their family, friends and neighbors.
