Shining Angel
Walking through the hustle and bustle of a Turkish village in the same location as the biblical town of Sardis, a little shoeshine boy came and looked deep into my eyes asking if he could polish by brown shoes. But there was an issue, he only had one can of black shoe polish.
My first response was “NO...NO...NO...your polish is the wrong color for my shoes”. I could see the disappointment on his face but he was still very determined to polish my shoes. At that moment, God spoke to my heart and said... Let him polish your brown shoes.... so I let him do it.
He tucked a piece of cardboard behind my heel and began to polish away....changing the color of my shoes and making them shine like the sun up above. Once he was finished I sensed this shoeshine boy was being used by God to pass on a message for me. After I gave him some money for his effort...he continued looking up to me and said....”May God open up many doors for you today and in the future.” Then the boy turned and vanished into the crowd of people walking by.
Wow! God spoke to me today with a blessing and message. I was told by a shoeshine boy that I can expect that God will open up many doors.
In our work, we are very aware that God occasionally allows us to experience the company of angels. This has happened twice in my life while walking in the footsteps ordered by the Lord. I wonder how many angels I may have missed because they offered something I didn’t think I needed?
Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people have shown hospitality to angels without knowing it. Hebrews 13:2
